This pub was built in 1861, and first listed in directories as the Parrs Head in 1866, at 73 King Street. There is a slightly altered address of 73 Plender Street by 1938. **
After exactly 150 years of business the pub finally closed at 7pm on Monday 24th October 2011. One of the the regulars commented "while the glasses were dry, the tears were not". The pub was recently bought for the huge sum £1.1 million and is to be converted into 5 self contained flats . ***

View from the Parrs Head, Camden Town - in 1936
My young Father, Jack Carnaby (aged 26 years) is sitting cross legged in the centre of the photo. The photographer has his back to the Parrs Head that was then in King Street, now called Plender Street.

Parrs Head, 73 King Street, Camden Town - in 1969
The 1969 photo showing the "Parrs Head" name on the stone work at the top of the building, that was later removed as it became unsafe. Also the sign outside shows a picture of "Old Parr". I think the Brewery thought the pub was named after Old Parr (who was said to have lived to the age of 152?), but it wasn't, it was named after William Parr the first owner/builder.

Parrs Head transfer in May 1971 to Richard Gooding and Lyn Roger Hussey
I received from my Cousin, the transfer details of the Parrs Head when my Father
left there in 1971. It shows a Richard Gooding took over the pub at that time
and was earlier at the Roebuck, Pond Street NW3 and the
Rose and Crown, Market
street, Watford Hertfordshire. The last address shown was where he lived in Bushey
Hertfordshire. ***
