The Nell Gwynne is at 1 Bull Inn court from about 1851, and the Castle was earlier at 6 Bullin court, 407 Strand until at least 1846.
Bull Inn court exists for ever, and there was a Bull inn here until about 1670. Bull Inn court always exists between the Strand and Maiden lane, often being described as the Bull Inn court, Maiden lane.
The Bull Inn was visited by Pepys where he apparently met Nell Gwynne in 1667, a prostitute who was a mistress of King Charles. she was also the founder of Chelsea Hospital and mother of the first Duke of St Albans, apparently (her blue plaque suggests this is true).
Just for the moment, I am also adding some records for the Bull, Bull Inn court, Strand to this Castle records.
