Existed from at least 1860. The address in 1862 is at Pekin place, East India Dock road. The 1863 and 1875 license transfers list the address as the Eagle Tavern, Cotton street, as it is at the junction with Cotton Street. It was destroyed in 1945 by a V2 rocket with the loss of 20 lives. The site has never been built on since. **
