E11 Leytonstone
Stations - Leytonstone, Wanstead and Snarrook (Central), Leytonstone High Street
(BR Barking line).
The postal district covers two areas, Leytonstone proper is in the north eastern
projection of the Victorian terraces which start in Stratford and push their way
up to the Green Man roundabout to meet the outliers of Epping Forest and
Wanstead flats. Across the roundabout Wanstead is a separate area and considered
a little more exclusive by some of its inhabitants, for which privilege they pay
a bit more in the pubs.
The beer range is generally dominated by the larger brewers but a sprinkling of
guest beers (especially in some of the managed houses) have added to the range
available. Free houses are few, and from the west of the Central line up to
Whipps Cross there is very little of anything - thanks to the Quakers who built
a number of "dry" estates here in the nineteenth century.
