North Star, 24 Browning road, Leytonstone E11

Leytonstone pub history index

This pub was founded as a beer house in 1858 and named North Star. It is believed to have been established by William Wildsmith who had earlier sailed on a ship called the North Star. (I’m not sure if William Wildsmith is the same person as Frederick Wildsmith or as Frederick William Wildsmith). It obtained a beer and wine licence in 1939 and a full licence in 1959. It remains open, still under the name North Star. **
