Accessibility friendly : On 23rd August 2021, the new ticket hall and lifts have opened at Whitechapel station
New lifts at the station provide step-free access to the District and Hammersmith & City lines as well as London Overground platforms.
On Tuesday, May 24th 2022, the first section of the Elizabeth Line officially opened
New escalators have also been built at the station down to the Elizabeth line, and step-free access from the street to Elizabeth line trains.
Whitechapel is a very accessible station, although there are quite long distances to swap between some of the lines.
