Accessible Train stations in London - Tottenham Court Road

Elizabeth line trains run every five minutes, towards Abbey Wood or Shenfield, both via Whitechapel; or towards Heathrow, via Paddington. This is a very fast route to cross London. It is entirely accessible, but NO toilets!

I visited Tottenham Court road several times in June 2019, and many time since, each time I was looking at different issues. There are now some amazing lifts giving access to both the Central and Northern lines. Tottenham Court Road Underground station now provides step-free access to both the Central and Northern lines.
There are three new entrances, and one further refurbished entrance ;
a ticket hall five times larger than the original
eight new escalators
six new lifts providing step-free access

There are some raised platform for wheelchair users.

The Northern line stations are occasionally accessible. Some are good, most are appalling! The brand new Bank station in Cannon street is now better. At Bank station there are lifts between the Northern line and the DLR.
It is important to note that certain sections of the platform are raised to allow step-free from platform to train on the Northen line, sometimes. It appears to be the second carriage from the front of the train.

Accessibility friendly : Tottenham Court Road is accessible to wheelchair users due to escalators between the platform and street level. It is a very deep station, and appears to have lifts to all platforms. The Central line has restrictions requiring ramps. See images below, in June 2019.

General description : In June 2019, an initial visit to Tottenham Court Road station. The external appearance suggest this is an ultra-modern station with good quality lift access to all levels, from street level.

You may need a Ramp to access the central line services from this station. See picture above. The Northern line appears to have raised platforms, these are sections of the platform which allow step-free access to the trains from the platform. Cool! It appears to be the second carriage from the front of the train.

More comment :  See press release although it ignores the gaps between the trains and platforms.

Step-free access stations have lifts or ramps - or a combination of both - so that customers don't have to use escalators or stairs to move between the street and the platform.

Stepfree between street level and platform.
