Accessible Train stations in London - Limehouse c2c and DLR

Address : Branch Road, Limehouse
London, E14 7JT

All the London railway stations :

Limehouse (DLR) is a modern station on the highly accessible DLR line, and only 5 minutes ride from Stratford. It has a public lift from the street to both platforms, and the step onto the trains from the platform is slight. This station is recommended as highly accessible for wheelchair users. Use the links below for pictures and more detail.

Limehouse DLR is also now served by an escalator on the London bound side.
You can also travel to the brand new Bank station from Limehouse, and is two stations along the DLR. Bank station is a very accessible station in Cannon street which has lifts serving both the Northern and DLR lines. There is also access to the Cebtral line via an escalator service.

Another tip, if wanting to access Tower Hill from the C2C, exit the train at Limehouse and two stations travel onwards arrives at Tower Gateway. You do need to exit the C2C station to cross to DLR the lines, but there are lifts, albeit a tad small (June 2019). My pictures below are in June 2019.

Limehouse c2c Rail station is far less accessible. The step onto the train requires a ramp. There is a lift to the platform travelling away from London, but this is now working after a six week fault. To access the other platform towards London, there is access via the DLR platform, but this presumes this station is open.
There is a way of getting from the DLR to the alternative platform, but this would require travelling to Fenchurch street and then returning in the opposite direction! This would add thirty minutes onto travel, as I tried it.

There is limited access to the C2C, but National Rail suggest this is not a recommended station to use for C2C, or accessible. There is level interchange between westbound National Rail services and eastbound DLR towards Westferry.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is a fully accessible railway for people using wheelchairs. All DLR stations have a lift or ramp access to the platforms, with level access onto the trains. All lifts have alarms enabled, which allow you to talk directly with a member of DLR staff should you experience any problems. The gap between the platform edge and the train is 7.5cm wide and the step up or down from the platform to the train is 5cm high. Most wheelchair users find getting on and off smoothest with the largest wheel first.
