Cutty Sark DLR station entrance - in November 2021
Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich is allegedly a modern station on the highly accessible DLR line.
I visited Cutty Sark Greenwich today, in November 2021, and the station was broken.
I was able to use the escalator from the platform, but there are two escalataors to get to street level. The top escalator was not working, and the lift was very small, and generally filled with people travelling between the street down to the platform, including a woman with a full size bicycle and another woman with a can of cider travelling in the opposite direction. I found the station, quite distressing.
The lift has no indicators in the lift to tell you which platform you have arrived at, absolutely ridiculous.
The down escalator from this area was also not working.
It has a 'small' public lift from the street to the platform, and the step onto the trains
from the platform is slight. This station was recommended as highly accessible
for wheelchair users.
Underground lines : Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is usually a fully accessible railway for people using wheelchairs. All DLR stations have a lift or ramp access to the platforms, with level access onto the trains. All lifts have alarms enabled, which allow you to talk directly with a member of DLR staff should you experience any problems. The gap between the platform edge and the train is 7.5cm wide and the step up or down from the platform to the train is 5cm high. Most wheelchair users find getting on and off smoothest with the largest wheel first.
Lift access between street and platform.
