Middlesex Licensing Committee - Uxbridge Licences Refused.
The Sun.
In opposition to the renewal of the license of the Sun ale-house, High street, Uxbridge, of which Mr Frank Jackson Morley is the licensee and Messrs James Thatcher (Limited), West Drayton. the owners.
The premises were old, inadequate, and unsuitable, and part of the premises of the next door shop were built into these licensed premises, and the house refuse had to be carried out through the front door.
The surveyor said the house was 200 years old. if not more. Externally and internally the house was in a bad state of repair, and the joists were gone, and the staircases leaning on one side. The sanirtary arrangements were not good.
A bedroom in the house next door was built over the first floor of the Sun.
Within 220 yards of these premises there were held 30 licenses of various kinds, of which number 16 were full licenses.
The condition of the premises was very bad.
Mr Pickitt, for the owners asked for renewal of the licence. He said it was proposed to re-build the premises upon which the licensee did a trade of one barrel and a half per week, and four dozen bottles.
The renewal was refused and the licence sent forward for the determination and allocation of compensation.
