Teddington pub history index
This is listed as the refreshment rooms near the railway Station in the 1891 census. It was built in 1869 as the Railway Refreshment Rooms, the railway station having opened in July 1863. About 1890 it became the Railway Hotel and finally after some refurbishment in 2007/8, it reopened under the ridiculas name of The Bloated Mallard. I have been told that Mallard was the name given to the fastest steam train operating on this line but I doubt the present owners knew this when renaming it. *
