My parents were the publicans, from about 1958 until it was demolished, we
then moved to the Earl Derby in Kilburn High road for a number of years.
Opposite the Shakespeare was Chris Blackwell's (Island Records) first
studio, so pretty much everyone who went there came in the pub too.
Fond memories are of getting Millie (my boy lollipop) a glass of milk and
sitting down with her, and another time of my mum refusing to serve Mick
Jagger and Keith Richards. *
