According to the present owners its has been on this site since 1547. It is named the Wrestlers Inn, 24 North hill in the 1871 census and also in license transfers. At 102 North Road in 1899 and the 1901 census. Named the Wrestlers Tavern, North Road in the 1911 census. The Wrestlers, North road, Highgate was rebuilt in the 1920s, both photos were taken shortly before the old building was demolished. Wrestlers, Highgate. The keeper is Daniel King.
In 1742, an incident recorded at the Sessions House, Old Bailey involves a
robbery of a chaise at the Wrestlers, Highgate. The licensee is Daniel King.
On 24th July1751, an incident involving a pack horse travelling to Preston
from the Swan and Two Necks, Lad lane, is robbed at the Wrestlers, Highgate.
The owner of the pack horse is George Glover and his assistant is Richard
Fenton, whom is driving the vehicle.

My Mum & Dad were licences of the Wrestlers from 1938 to 1959. They were
Bill & Betty Lodge. They kept up the ceremony of the Swearing of The Horns
and ran the pub as a community meeting place eventually employing a cook to
do lunches for the masters in Highgate School *
