Mr John Dale( aka Jack) former publican of the George & Dragon 33 High
Street Southall (1911 and 1914) and also of the Angel Inn Hayes Middlesex.
He was the brother of my grandfather Robert Dale late of Dumbarton,
Scotland. He was one of four brothers and a sister who were born in Barrhead,
Renfrewshire but they all spent time in Quarriers Homes an orphanage in
Bridge of Weir near to where I live. Well Jack must have gone to England and
I presume he met and married. I don’t know who he married , I know she had a
brother who was connected to farming. There is an 1903 entry in freebmd for
a marriage in St George Hanover Square to an Elizabeth Ellen Elton, and also
a John Dale who is a listed as a boarder in the same area in the 1901
census. In 1891 he is possibly listed at the Wellington Barracks. *
