Hanworth pub history index
At the High Street in 1899. The old Hope and Anchor was on the other side of the Hampton Road and was demolished for road widening in the thirties, more or less at the same time as Arthur Angell retired. *
Also, a photograph of the pre-1930s pub. The view is from the north, looking south. It was on the South West side of Hampton Road. It would now be on the roundabout under the Chertsey Road. See map - old and new overlaid. *

The new 1930s pub was diagonally across both the Hampton Road and the Twickenham Road, in the angle between the Chertsey Road and the Twickenham Road. The newly built Hope & Anchor was demolished in the early 1990s, and is now a Macdonalds drive through in 2017.
