I have several relatives on my mother's side who were Licensed Victuallers.
My great grandfather Walter Benjamin Groves managed several pubs, including the White Horse, Fleet Road Hampstead, and died there in 1923. He was previously at the Crown, 667 Commercial Road, Ratcliffe; and prior to this at the George Peabody, 146 Shadwell High Street (401 The Highway), Shadwell E1. Walter Benjamin Groves of White Horse Fleet road Hampstead Middlesex died 10 February 1923 Probate London 14 March to Alfred Thomas Groves licensed victualler. Effects £1403 4s 6d.
George Kett and his wife Lilian Hester (daughter of Walter Benjamin Groves) lived at the pub in 1932 and the 1939 register.
