Tottenham and Edmonton Weekly Herald 22 March 1907
Enfield and Public Houses - Six Licenses referred.
The adjourned applications for renewal were in respect of the Pike and Anchor, Ponders End ; Cricketers Arms, Chase Side ; The Harrow, Turkey street; The Prince of Wales, Parsonage lane ; The Sultan beerhouse, New road, Ponders End ; The Swan, Ponders End, and The Woodman, Baker street.
The Swan. Thomas Hunnings was the licensee, and the rent was £40 a year. It was a free beer house and within 220 yards were five licences and 440 yards eight licences. There was a good deal of vacant land in the vicinity, some of which was being developed. The trade was on the increase.
Inspector Pratt stated that the licence was transferred to the licensee in 1892. The house had never been closed, and there had been no conviction for the last 23 years. The Bench referred the renewal.
