Enfield and Public Houses - Six Licenses referred.
The adjourned applications for renewal were in respect of the Pike and Anchor, Ponders End ; Cricketers Arms, Chase Side ; The Harrow, Turkey street; The Prince of Wales, Parsonage lane ; The Sultan beerhouse, New road, Ponders End ; The Swan, Ponders End, and The Woodman, Baker street.
The Prince of Wales. The licensee was William Bullen, the brewers being Messrs Christie of Hoddesdon. The rateable value of the house was £26, and within 440 yards radius there were nine licences. The trade was almost stationary.
Inspector Twigg stated that the licence had been transferred twice within seven years. The house had never been closed, and there had been no convictions. The supervision was good. The house was frequented by the poorer class of labourers.
The renewal of the licence was referred.
