At 299 High Street in 1899 and earlier; and at Acton Hill in 1874. This pub is now called the Red Lion & Pineapple ** The pub opened as a Wetherspoons pub on the 20th December 1993 and is still trading in 2018. The addition of the Pineapple to the name was in about 1965, see below, as there was once a Pineapple beer & wine retailer next door ( back in the 1880s!).

After a visit to this old pub in Acton, and reading the story of its name on
the menu card. I have to tell you that their information is incorrect as my
husband’s family ran this as a Fullers pub since the late thirties.
The Pineapple “bit” of the name came from the Booker family at around 1965/66 when they decided to add the pineapple to the name to distinguish it from all the other “Red Lion” pubs in town. The pineapple was indeed a pub next door before the tram depot was built and the Bookers therefore attached this to the name in memorial as it were.
My husband’s mother Mrs Kate Booker, otherwise known as Kitty ran the pub
whilst her husband was away during the war and my husband was born in this
pub just after the war. The pineapple now under the nose of the figure of
the red lion ( which we have a photo of said husband as a two year old
sitting on! )was added by the Booker family at the time mentioned. *
