Harp, 30 & 31 Russell street, St Martins in Fields WC2E

St Martins pub history index

at 14 Little Russell Street, Drury Lane before 1856; aka Welsh Harp in 1891 census. This pub is now demolished. **

The name 'Keans Head' which is nearby, clearly comes from Edmund Kean, and this was also known as the P.S. Tavern (Prompt side), whilst the Harp was known as the O.P Tavern (Opposite Prompter). Edmund Kean (1787 - 1833) was a prominent actor at theatres in Drury lane  - as can be discovered on the arthurlloyd site in its history of Drury lane.
