In October 1835, one of my great-great-great grandfathers, Robert Chisholm,
held the licence (reference - an insurance record refers to him then). I
think that he died in 1839, as although the Public House & Publican
Directory for 1839 states that he was the licensee then, the same Public
House & Publican Directory for 1841 shows it has 'gone' to Mrs Maria
Chisholm (his widow). Maria re-married - actually in 1840 - to William
Tayler, who is listed in 1851 (although he had also died by then, and the
licence transferred to Alfred Naish. *
