My Great Grandfather, George Streadwick Weech, owned the pub for a number of
years. The whole family came from Liverpool originally. Before the family
moved down, he also had a Hackney cab business , horse drawn and this was
also carried on when he had the pub. He later sold the horses as he could
see the motorcar as the future transport, maybe he sold the horses to the
War effort? ***
