I was checking facts for a burial at Brookwood Cemetery, in Woking, Surrey. **
The William the Fourth Hotel/Pub, 84 Thornhill Road, Islington page makes reference to George Langley Smith. He appears on the 1891 Census as George L. Smith, aged 43, a licensed victualler, residing with is wife Mary, daughter Mary E Smith and son, George S Smith, along with others. **
I believe that Mary Smith (nee Banks), who married George Langley Smith in the fourth quarter of 1873, was buried at Brookwood Cemetery, Woking, Surrey, on 12 March 1899. An entry appears in the Brookwood (London Necropolis) Burial Register, Volume 20, for the burial of Mary Smith, of William IV Hotel, Thornhill Rd (Barnsbury), aged 49 years (Brookwood Cemetery Burial Registers, Volume 20, Entry 138779. Surrey History Centre, 130 Goldsworth Road, Woking, Surrey. Ref.: 2935/3/20).

George Langley Smith was quick to remarry, shortly after the death of his first wife, to Louisa Jane Buckle, in the second quarter of 1899 in the Lymington Registration District in Hampshire. This would explain why, on the 1901 Census, George Smith is resident with his second wife, Louisa Jane, aged 27, of Hampshire, plus others. **
George Langley Smith was also buried at Brookwood Cemetery. His address is recorded as 95 Huxley Road, Leyton. He was 61 years old and was buried 26 August 1909 (Brookwood Cemetery Burial Register, Volume 22, Entry 164761. Surrey History Centre, 130 Goldsworth Road, Woking, Surrey. Ref.: 2935/3/23).
