The bride was Miss Audrey Poole, younger daughter of Frank Poole, licensee of the Three Brewers, corner of Essex road and New North road, and the groom, Mr Walter Beaken, licensee of the Oxford Arms, Halliford Street.
A former member of the Royal Artillery Light A. A.. the groom spent 3.5 years in a Jap Prison camp. His father, Mr William Beaken, for 24 years licensee of the Oxford Arms, died shortly after his son's return home. Mrs Katherine Beaken, the grooms mother, died last June.
