Old Crown, 90 Highgate Hill, Islington N19

Islington index

In the photograph of the Old Crown, Highgate Hill is 1892, it shows the original building, with landlady Mrs Charlotte Griffiths. The bus on the road is a cable car, as Highgate Hill was too steep for horse drawn buses. The photo in 1908 shows the new pub on the corner of Hornsey Lane.  The original pub was still standing at this time, to the right of the lamppost. **
