My Great Grandfather was Charles Alfred Clarke; he owned a number of pubs in
Islington and London in the early 1900s, including the Grosvenor. He and his
wife appear on the 1911 census as Licensed Victuallers at this address,
along with their children, 2 Barmaids, a cook and a servant.
He also had the White Horse and Cross Keys, 140 Goswell Road, St
Luke in 1908 to 1915, and The Lamb, in Leadenhall Market
from 1917 to 1944, when he
transferred it to his son-in-law George Amor. **
