Cock Tavern, 259 Upper Street, Islington N1

Islington index

Listed at 21 Wells Row, the North side of Islington High Street, in 1856 and earlier. The pub and station were opened in 1872. The pub was badly damaged by a V1 on 27th June 1944 and lost most of its top two floors. It was finally demolished in 1956 and the current pub built on the same site. The rest of the station building was demolished during the building of the Victoria Line in the mid 1960s. **
