I am the daughter of the licensee Laurence Owen Moran of The Alwyne Castle.
The previous licensee, Mr Rogers lost the licence because he was not living
on the premises. The law was that the licensee must. When my parents went to see the premises there was no staircase up to the private apartments, and as there had been a fire, that was how he was found out. *
My grandparents (Licensee William Charles Perryman 1918-1927), had been the
licensees at the 'The
Coach and Horses' St. Johns Street, Clerkenwell; which was bombed in
Second World War. *
