- 1963/Mr William (Bill) Hobbs. *
Mr William (Bill) Hobbs had the pub until March 1963 although it was still
known as Cuthbert's but my mum and dad (John and Margaret Birrane) took over
from Bill Hobbs. They ran it until March 1990. Until then it had been a mix
of east end regulars and Irish clientele. I think that Bill might be the gap
between 1944 and 1963. *
When they left, they were the longest serving publicans in Hackney at the
particular point in time when they retired. *
1990/Peter Duffy and his wife took over from my parents. *
