My mother once told me that her grandfather, Alexander Hannah, was the landlord of the Sailor
Prince in Peckham. **
Sailor Prince, Gordon Road, Peckham in 1914 - landlord is Alexander Hannah
In her collection of photographs there is one taken outside that pub, and it has an inscription on the back that says "Sailor Prince 1914 Gordon Road Peckham". It shows a group of people outside of the pub (the name "Sailor Prince" is displayed on the window behind them) with my great grandfather Alexander Hannah in the centre, who is clearly the landlord.
He is flanked by two ladies, one being my great grandmother Rebecca Hannah (nee Walton) and
the other my Grandmother Ellen Hough (a year before her marriage to my
Grandfather John Hannah who was in the army). **
