The name is given as simply the White Horse in the 1871 census and in the 1855 and 1826 directories, and is also the modern name of the pub. * It was rebuilt in 1937 with the book value of the old house at 4350 and the cost of the new house being 8343.

The Old White Horse, 20 Peckham Rye - circa 1895.
The Old White Horse tavern in Peckham Rye which an ancestor held as publican for a while. He was Charles Ormond Winder and died in 1895. This photo has been part of my family collection for a long, longtime and looking at it now I wonder if it was the day of the funeral in 1895.
In the photo is my Great Grandmother, standing and facing her nephew (the deceased Charles Winder's son) and her daughter (seated in the carriage), my Grandmother.
