My father John Charles Evans talked of his childhood, moving from pub to pub with his parents. Two of the pubs I’ve noted are The Boston Hotel & The Sun in the Sands; its near the Blackwall Tunnel. His father John Edward Evans died in the cellar there, he was Chairman of The Licence Vitualers Association in the 1930’s possibly 1936 before after. We have photos of them at The Connaught Rooms wearing some chain of honour. ***
