My 5th Great Grandfather Francis Mead FORDHAM who, in the first line of his Last Will and Testament dated 21st June 1806, states:
"I Francis Fordham of the Turks Head in Aldgate High Street in the Parish of Saint Botolph Aldgate in the city of London, Victualler,..........". *
I believe he may have previously ran another hotel in the district named "the Flying Horse" in Lambeth Street, Goodmans-fields, Whitechapel in 1795. I came across that information when trolling through the Old Bailey records where he appeared prosecuting someone for theft from the hotel. *
He left his entire estate to his wife, Sarah (nee SAVORY). Their son John Savory FORDHAM, also went on to be a victualler but I am as yet to find where in the City of London although I feel it would be in the Whitechapel district.
Francis' brother Thomas was also a victualler and their father, Thomas snr, may also have been but I am yet to confirm this. *
