The Camel existed from at least 1805. The name is given as the Railroad Tavern in the 1839 Pigot's Directory, but in a Sun Fire Office insurance record from 1838, the same victualler is listed at the Camel at 107 Minories; and also in the 1811 Holdens directory, and the Golden Camel, Minories in 1815. *
