The White Bear existed from at least 1805. It later became Cope's Wine Lodge and survived until at least 1939, but is now demolished. ** From about 1926 to 1940 it is called Bodega, part of the wine and spirit merchants chain. The address is listed as 126 Aldersgate Street in 1869 and earlier, prior to street renumbering. *
