n.b. [ For the Trade Directories of 1856 and earlier it is unclear where the Directory for Brick lane continues northwards on the eastern side, and then turns southward on the Western side.

The Bethnal Green census for 1851, District 1, page 1 starts with an entry for Mary A Walker, Widow, Victualler at 133 Brick Lane and states Eastern side. I am using this address as a natural point to change directions.]
