Monument is a horrible inaccessible station best avoided. You can change lines in the same direction of travel.
I revisited Bank station again on the 4th May 2023. I again entered from Limehouse on the DLR. I wanted to see if it is possible to travel to Monument Station, which was all part of the Bank / Monument tunnel system. The District line was signposted, and a very long escalator was the first stage. There was not a downwards escalator, and people were struggling down this route on a very long set of steps. TFL should give some indication of how far the travel is on their signposts in simplistic terms, like don't go that way!
After quite a long corridor walkway, there was a second very long escalator to arrive at the Monument station. This was just the platforms, there are more stairs to exit the Monument station, but I chose to travel one stop to Cannon street station, which is accessible, in part.
Accessibility friendly : No accessible entrance or exit. You can change between Circle line eastbound towards Liverpool Street (A step 183mm/gap 77mm) and District line eastbound towards Upminster (B step 157mm/ gap 113mm). You can change between Circle line westbound towards High Street Kensington (B step 183mm/gap 147mm) and District line westbound towards Earls Court (C step 150mm/gap 203mm)
I can highly recommend the new Bank station which is very close to Monument station, see maps. I am yet to confirm that Monument is accessible from Bank station, why would you want to anyway. Monument is a horrible inaccessible station best avoided.
Bank Station, the new entrance in Cannon street on a map outside the entrance. See You are here.
Bank Station, the new entrance in Cannon street on a map inside the station entrance. This gives a good visual presentation of where you are located in regards to other local landmarks and stations.
