My parents worked here from 1950s to 1970s and I worked there for a very short time in 1972. *
The publican/licensee through the 1950's and 1960s was Charles Steel and his wife Vera (confirmed by the Electoral Registers). I vaguely remember them.*
They left in the late 1960's or early 1970's (not sure exactly when) then there were a couple of short-term managers followed by a chap who's name was either Savage or Salvidge. My brother and I (both schoolchildren at the time) worked for him as cellar-boys after school and at weekends. We were tasked with re-stocking shelves and general cellar cleaning duties.*
We moved away in 1973 and I forgot all about the place until a recent trip to Wood Green and I was astonished how different it now looked. *
