Remembered Crimean War One of Hounslow's oldest inhabitants, Mrs. Selina Louisa Norris, of 137, Hanworth Road, passed away in Hounslow Hospital on Monday in her 96th year. Mother of the well-known Norris family of Hounslow, she was a native of Berkshire, but had resided in Hounslow for 70 years.
At one time, with her husband, she kept The Rifleman" in Hanworth Road, and for many years lived on the farm which formerly occupied the site of Messrs. R. J. Coley's works in Chapel Road, and from which milk was supplied to all the principal residents.
Among her earliest recollections was that of witnessing, when 10 years of age, the inspection at Aldershot of the troops on their return from the Crimea, in which campaign she had an uncle. All her six sons had excellent military careers and served their King and Country in various parts of the Empire and on the foreign field. They became known locally as the fighting Norris's."
