Westminster St Margaret index
On the north side of Knightsbridge, just east of Knightsbridge Barracks. The pub pre-dates the barracks, and dates back to at least the early 18th century. The address in the 19th century oscillated between 30 High Row and 30 Albert Terrace until 1881, when it became 44 Albert Gate. The site between the barracks and Park Place (today’s Park Close) which included the Brown Bear, was purchased in 1886 by a builder, who demolished the existing buildings and erected a block of flats, which remains to this day as Albert Gate Court. *
