James Benton was running the George the IVth from at least April 1881 (census) - May 1887 (when his daughter got married). By the time another daughter, Lily Ethel was baptised in September 1888 he was at the Blue Anchor, 251 Southwark Park Road. Latterly, he was at the Kings Arms, 96 High Street, Wandsworth by 1911. James Benton died here on the 14th January 1915, leaving £547 to his son Albert Frederick Benton, who then ran the pub until at least 1934. ***
