Wandsworth pub history index
At 14 Armoury Way by 1944. Pub still there in 2007. It is said to have been there by 1748, It was leased to Young's Brewery in 1832 when it had a skittle alley. Young's bought it in 1899. It was rebuilt in the 1920s. It was damaged by bombs in World War Two, In 1991 it was said to be haunted by a small boy in knickerbockers. By November 1994 it had a restaurant upstairs and now had two ghosts, the small boy had been apparently joined by a prostitute from a nearby 19th century brothel, customers claimed to have seen a bottle jump off a shelf unaided, this obviously proved it was a prostitute, or was it proof of a small boy? The management did not enlarge. ***
