The White Hart is earlier called the White Hind between 1625 and 1703, with George Dynes being buried there in 1625; and Benjamin Blundell claims a moiety called the White Hind in 1687. The court records of 1703 note a messuage surrendered called the White Hind by Joseph Morewood, Richard Barrett and Edward Hippisley to Edward Percivall. The White Hart is first registered in 1723.
