Mr John Aloysius Conlon and Mrs Margaret Conlon were Landlords since 1974. John known as "Alo" passed in 2009. Margaret known as "Peggy" still lives here and operates the pub (2022). **

The Dublin Castle hosted Irish bands and weddings in the Era of Barney Finlay. The Conlon's continued this culture but witnessed the demographics changing as Irish moved away. They saw less weddings in the function room. Less people were coming to see the Irish bands. Alo took the unpopular decision to start hosting Rhythm & Blues, Jazz and Blues music.
Then.....in 1979 some local boys came in looking for a gig. They fibbed and said they play Jazz. Alo gave them a Wednesday night. The band turned out to be MADNESS. They had a 6 week residency but were never awarded the weekend slot because Alo was delighted that his pub was rammed on a Wednesday night. **

Since then The Dublin Castle has gained iconic status. Amy Winehouse pulled pints and performed upon the tiny stage. Coldplay cut their teeth here with other bands such as THE DARKNESS, TRAVIS, BLUR, SNOW PATROL, MUSE, ELASTICA, ARCTIC MONKEYS, KEANE. THE WAR ON DRUGS....ETC **
