This is the same Samuel East who was in thebGreen Man in Stratford in 1824.  In 1840, an Old bailey Trial lists Samuel as a witness, when he mentions keeps the White Hart Tap, Liverpool Street, Bishopsgate. He and his wife Harriet were here in Old Change, between St Paul’s Cathedral and the river, in the 1841 census. In 1851 Harriet was running the Ship, Artillery Lane now known as Williams’ Ale and Wine bar; whilst Samuel languished in Whitecross Street Debtors’ Prison having been bankrupted for at least the second time. The first time was when he gave up The Green Man. Samuel & Harriet are my great great great grandparents. He died in 1860 in Bethnal Green. I’ve not found her death. ***
