Tobits Dog, 1 St Pauls churchyard, St Gregory by St Pauls EC4

St Gregory by St St Pauls pub history index

The Tobits Dog is still listed in 1836, but appears to be "pulled down to enlarge the premises of one of the great linen drapers", i.e. the establishment next door by 1838. The 1842 street directory shows no mention, although the 1832 directory does. Earlier mentions in 1810 note it as the Tobits Dog coach office, and it is also mentioned in 1802 in coaching terms. In 1833 there is a will of an John Nicol of Bodicote leaving this messuage to his illegitimate son, Henry Nicol. This is probably the ownership of the building rather than the licensing of the premises.

Lockies topegraphy of London in 1810 describes it as "Tobits Dog coach office, St Pauls Church yard : a door or two on the R. from Ludgate street".
