Eliza Long, who was licensee from October 1869; was born Eliza Cox in Bristol about 1829 and married three times, first to George Anstey a farmer (two children), then to Abraham Long a butcher (one child)
and they are both listed at 2 Christmas street, Bristol in the 1861 census, and before marrying,
and finally to Aniceto Hernandez from Zaragoza, Spain, who was 12 years younger than her. *
Her daughter from first marriage (Elizabeth Waring Anstey) married Theodore Leon Giavelli who was son of a French born tightrope performer (a member of the Ravel group that toured the world). On their marriage certificate in 1871 in St Giles they are listed as resident at 262 High Holborn. *
Aniceto Hernandez and Eliza appear in the 1871 census at 262 High Holborn. He is listed as licensed victualler. Unfortunately, after that there is no record of them in UK. They may have emigrated, presumably after 1873 when the pub changed hands.
