Railway Arms, 60 Sutton street E1

St George in East Index

60 Sutton Street east is next to the Shadwell Railway Station in 1869, and I believe comes as close as you can possibly get to a pub at 51 Church Road in 1856 and previous. The address of 51 Church Road, St George in the East is now known as Sutton Street. This beer shop (as it is called in the 1851 census) was located on the west side of the street, a few doors to the north of the intersection with Martha Street. *

This pub closed in 2001 and remains empty and derelict. ** It sas the site of a murder in 1997 hence the closure? Also see the earlier entries for 60 Sutton Street.
