Windmill, 52 Park Street, Southwark St Saviour, SE1 9EF

Southwark St Saviour pub history index

Park street was earlier called Maid Lane; at 35 New Park street in 1869 and earlier. The 1850 license transfer refers to the Windmill, Maid lane although all the directory entries back to 1839 refer to New Park street. A look at later directories places 52 Park street, north side, at the junction with Windmill lane.

My late father ‘Lionel Clement Roberts’ – eldest son of ‘Clement Charles Roberts’, was at the Wenlock Arms. The pictures were taken at the same time as a similar photo of the Wenlock Arms, so my assumption is that they were on a trip of reminiscence, although I can’t directly associate Dad or his father Clement with the Windmill.
