Earlier address in 1871 census and before is at 138 Tooley Street. In 1825, 1853 and 1856 the pub is listed as Colonel Wardle. It is named the Britannia in the 1884, 1891, 1895 and 1899 directories. The 1884 directory places the Britannia at 139 Tooley Street, which is at or near the College Street junction. Built [Rebuilt] in 1881 and now an office known as Britannia House. The name can still be seen in stone mezzo-rilievo along the Tooley Street and Shand Street fa�ades; a horizontal line of 23 ceramic oval cabachon red white and blue Union Flags can be seen below the Tooley Street parapet. ***

In 1861 census he can be found at Anchor Tap, Horselydown lane, from October, in 1859.
In September 1862, he transfers to the Bell, Wandsworth road, Clapham; until at least 1864.
He is here, at the Britannia, between 1865 and 1867.
In September 1867 he he transfers to the Green Dragon, Botolph alley and is here until at least 1873.
By 1874, he is at the Sugar Loaf, 5 Little College street.
In October 1879 he transfers to the Watermans Arms, 26 Dockhead, Bermondsey
He is at the Czars Head in Tower Road in the 1881 census, and also in the 1878 directory. **
